Ministry of Education Singapore (MoE)

The Ministry of Education (MoE) is responsible for the development and administration of all state owned schools as well as the registration of private schools. It formulates policies for the government that ultimately guide the direction of the country’s education policy.

National Institute of Education (NIE)

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is responsible for teacher training in Singapore. The institute also undertakes research and thereby contributes to policies by providing sound information that forms a solid basis for these policies. It aims to be at the forefront of educational research and teacher training, and has been extremely successful in this regard, cementing the institutions worldwide recognition for excellence.

Council for Private Education (CPE)

The Council for Private Education (CPE) is responsible for the private education sector and has the regulatory and legislative power to develop this sector. Their aim is to raise standards and improve the entire sector on a continuous basis.

Singapore Association for Private Education (SAPE)

The Singapore Association for Private Education (SAPE) was only recently formed. It aims to represent the interests of all institutions in the private education sector and is responsible for designing and championing initiatives to develop this sector further.

British Council Singapore

The British Council Singapore facilitates the process for Singaporean citizens to study in the UK and also provides the ability to obtain a UK degree in Singapore. Thousands of students have already made use of the Council’s services with 4,100 currently studying in the UK and more than 40,000 students studying for a UK degree in Singapore.
